As if I needed a new addiction. But then along comes Kakuro. It might as well be called "Crack-uro" because as soon as I picked up the book, I was hooked. Notice the title of the book: Kakuro for Dummies. The dummy being me, of course, for falling for this temptation. If Sudoku wasn't enough, now I've got this monkey on my back. (And yes, Mom, that IS a pencil you see in the picture. Your stubborn daughter that only likes to do puzzles in ink has converted to lead for this guilty pleasure).
I guess these puzzles have been around for a long time in Japan, and even here in America they're known as cross-sums. But package them in a new shiny book and off I go finding something else to obsess about.
And now I have to go...um...do the laundry? scrub the floors? ok ok OK I'm going to go play again...

Don't show me another kind of puzzle!! I swore I would not get hooked on Sudoku's. Well, so much for that. I'm totally addicted. I do NOT need any more puzzles to get addicted to. Don't even show it to me. Is it words or numbers? hehe
Hi Tam--
The puzzles that I am NOT talking about involve numbers. Not that you wanted to know or anything. I find it harder than Sudoku, I think I have yet to solve a puzzle completely, but just the figuring out part is what is so fun. This is also one of those time warp books where you pick it up at 8:00 at night, work on a few puzzles for what feels like 10 minutes, then look up at the clock to find that it's past midnight. Scary stuff.
You know, I haven't gotten addicted to those puzzles just yet. Tim had a few, tried to show me how, but I guess I just don't get it! oh well... :-) fun though
Oh no! What have you gotten yourself into!? So... your gonna show me how to do that next time I come to visit right? lol
